{"id":224,"date":"2026-05-04T16:30:05","date_gmt":"2026-05-04T14:30:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aerelisadvisory.eu\/?p=224"},"modified":"2026-05-04T16:32:32","modified_gmt":"2026-05-04T14:32:32","slug":"material-handling-an-early-laboratory-of-electrification","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aerelisadvisory.eu\/fr\/2026\/05\/04\/material-handling-an-early-laboratory-of-electrification\/","title":{"rendered":"Material Handling: an early laboratory of electrification"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last&nbsp; week, I started a short series of posts about&nbsp;<strong>the electrification of industry<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discussion is often framed at a national level \u2014 energy sovereignty, infrastructure, or public policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But interestingly, one industrial sector crossed that bridge&nbsp;<strong>long before electrification became a political priority<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Material handling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Walk into a modern warehouse in Europe&nbsp;<a href=\"\/fr\/2026-05-04%2012:00:00%20UTC+2\/\">today<\/a>&nbsp;and you will notice something striking:<br><strong>close to 90% of material handling equipment already runs on electricity.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Forklifts, pallet trucks, warehouse vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not because of environmental regulation.<br>Not because of government plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Simply because electric systems proved&nbsp;<strong>more efficient, more reliable, and easier to operate indoors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What started as a practical operational decision gradually created something more important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Electrification transformed machines into&nbsp;<strong>measurable systems<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Energy consumption can be monitored.<br>Fleet utilization can be optimized.<br>Maintenance can be predicted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other words, electrification quietly turned industrial equipment into&nbsp;<strong>data-producing assets<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And once systems become measurable, something new becomes possible:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>their&nbsp;<strong>carbon footprint can also be measured<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Which brings us to the next topic in this series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because once emissions can be quantified, they can also be&nbsp;<strong>accounted for, certified, and sometimes traded<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next episode:&nbsp;<strong>Carbon credits \u2014 what they actually represent, and how certification works.<\/strong><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last&nbsp; week, I started a short series of posts about&nbsp;the electrification of industry.
