{"id":242,"date":"2026-06-01T09:04:34","date_gmt":"2026-06-01T07:04:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aerelisadvisory.eu\/?p=242"},"modified":"2026-09-07T14:15:06","modified_gmt":"2026-09-07T12:15:06","slug":"farmers-are-quietly-becoming-carbon-managers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aerelisadvisory.eu\/fr\/2026\/06\/01\/farmers-are-quietly-becoming-carbon-managers\/","title":{"rendered":"Farmers are quietly becoming carbon managers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the previous post, I suggested that some of the most interesting value creation opportunities are emerging in layers that remain largely invisible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not in the physical asset itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But around it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Agriculture may be one of the clearest examples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Traditionally, a farm produced visible outputs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>wheat<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>corn<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>milk<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>vegetables<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>livestock<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The economic model was relatively straightforward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Produce. Harvest. Sell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But a second layer is now beginning to emerge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Carbon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Practices such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>regenerative agriculture<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>cover crops<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>soil management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">can increasingly be measured, modeled, verified and certified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The field still produces crops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But it may also produce something less visible:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>measurable carbon value.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is where a fascinating ecosystem of startups is emerging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not to replace farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But to build the invisible layers around them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some help collect and analyze field data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some use satellite imagery and AI to estimate carbon impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some manage certification processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some connect farmers with buyers seeking verified carbon credits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The crop remains the visible product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The carbon asset becomes the invisible one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And perhaps this is the deeper lesson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The most interesting innovations are often not those creating entirely new industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They are those revealing value that was already there \u2014 but could not previously be measured, verified, or monetized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is exactly the type of invisible layer that is beginning to reshape multiple industries far beyond agriculture.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the previous post, I suggested that some of the most interesting value creation opportunities are emerging in layers that remain largely invisible.
