What should we do with that reality?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As I write these lines, another heat wave is spreading across large parts of Europe. The temperature in Paris will rise till 39\u00b0C during&nbsp;<a href=\"\/fr\/2026-06-23%2012:00:00%20UTC+2\/\">today<\/a>! And Summer is just around the corner !<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For most of us, it means uncomfortable temperatures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For others, it means pressure on energy systems, agriculture, infrastructure, logistics and public health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regardless of one&#8217;s views on climate policies, one thing is becoming increasingly difficult to debate:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">adaptation is no longer optional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the last few posts, I explored electrification, carbon accounting, invisible layers and emerging business models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some may wonder whether these topics are becoming less relevant as energy prices fluctuate, geopolitical tensions evolve, or oil continues to flow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I would argue the opposite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because the objective was never simply to reduce emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The objective is to build more resilient systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More resilient energy networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More resilient supply chains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More resilient agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More resilient industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is where the discussion about carbon becomes interesting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not as an ideology or a reporting exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But as a tool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A way to measure, compare and prioritize<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And ultimately, a way to allocate resources where they create the greatest impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The challenge ahead is therefore not only to reduce our carbon footprint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is to reduce it intelligently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To identify where technology creates real value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To avoid complexity where simplicity works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To focus on measurable outcomes rather than intentions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And perhaps most importantly:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">to recognize that some of the most important solutions may emerge from the invisible layers we discussed throughout this series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The optimization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new business models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because in the end, adaptation and decarbonization are not competing objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The smartest solutions increasingly help us achieve both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that is usually where real value creation begins.
