Artificial Intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Aerial imagery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Computer vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Deeptech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At first glance, it has nothing in common.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And yet, it follows exactly the same entrepreneurial logic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I recently met the founder of BIRDIA<\/strong>, a young engineer whose enthusiasm is as contagious as his ambition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What immediately caught my attention was not the technology itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It was the simplicity of the problem being solved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Take a roof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Inspecting it is expensive, time-consuming and sometimes dangerous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Now imagine being able to analyze high-resolution aerial imagery and automatically identify deterioration, anomalies, compliance issues or risks\u2014within minutes rather than hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For roofing companies, insurers and local authorities, this is not simply “AI”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It is better decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lower costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Faster interventions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Improved safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What impressed me even more was the scalability of the approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Today, roofs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tomorrow, any infrastructure that can be observed, interpreted and qualified through intelligent image analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The technology remains the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The use cases multiply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This is another lesson I am learning as a Business Angel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Great startups rarely begin by trying to solve everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n They solve one problem exceptionally well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Then they discover that the underlying technology can unlock many others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That is how platforms are born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And perhaps this is another reason why I remain optimistic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n France does not lack talented entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It certainly does not lack brilliant engineers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What it needs\u2014and increasingly has\u2014is an ecosystem capable of transforming technical excellence into successful businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I’m looking forward to following Birdia’s journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And I have the feeling this is only the beginning.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Last week, I wrote about Laboratoire \u00dcMA.
